Teaching swim lessons is the basis of the KM Pool program. We want to create swimmers. To make that happen, we have studied what it takes to teach swimming in the most efficient way possible meaning our instruction is both productive and affordable. It is our goal to minimize the time that parents must sit on a bench and watch their kids learn to swim. The keys to efficient swim instruction include the following: · Smaller class sizes: With a class size of four students, a swimmer gets the same amount of instruction in three lessons that she would get in eight lessons with a class of nine students (Kent Pool's previous class size). End result? The student learns to swim sooner. · Highly skilled teachers: the best teachers in the area, well trained and with an increased awareness of the importance of their contribution to the success of the pool. One of the best ways to make sure our patrons are treated well is to treat our people well. · More fun: We all learn better and pay more attention if we enjoy what we are doing. Our teachers will be working hard on making lessons fun for their students. Later, as we develop the pool, we will add features that will enhance the lesson experience further – we are excited about our future growth for lessons. Ultimately, we hope to show our students what a truly great sport swimming is. · More class times and flexible schedules: Our schedules for lessons are going to be flexible to hopefully allow US to fit YOUR schedule rather than the other way around. We will offer 50% more lesson slots in our schedule than previously offered and we will do our best to provide your children with their favorite teachers – and we’ve got some great ones! We hope that you, our guests at the Kent Meridian pool, will appreciate these changes. We count on you to tell us what we are doing wrong and even, once in a while, what we are doing right. In either case, we will be listening. Help us keep the Kent Meridian Pool strong by signing up for a lesson today. Staff: A note on our staff: It is important that AMG have staff members that not only serve those key functions that are part of the pool operations and business, but are also well known and respected in the swimming industry. Our goal at AMG is to promote the sport of swimming and to that end, integration with the swimming community must be maintained. It is as important to have these connections as it is to have all of the business knowledge required to run pool operations. Management staff: Ash Milad Ash is the manager of the KM Pool and as an experienced pool manager brings a significant amount of experience in the sport of swimming. Ash is also one of the King Aquatic Club coaches.
Upon graduation, Ash returned to Northern Virginia and worked as Director of Managment for NVPools, Inc. where he managed over 70 community swimming pools. While working for NVPools Ash coached for the York Swim Club and most recently Machine Aquatics and George Mason University. He also has extensive experience with summer league teams and is very excited to be moving to the Pacific Northwest. Ash brings to KM the energy and long time experience of the Virginia swim community where swimming is as significant as soccer is in Washington state.
Dee Turner
Dee is the night manager for the Kent pool. She works most evenings in the lobby and provides a warm welcome to our afternoon and evening patrons. Although new to some of our patrons, Dee has worked at the Kent pool in the past so she knows her way around; if you have a question, most likely she has the answer. Born in Australia, Dee has always loved the water and the various activities associated with water. One water sport Dee will be enjoying later this year is scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef on Australia’s east coast. For the last 10 years Dee has been actively involved in aquatics throughout the community. She has thoroughly enjoyed teaching children to have fun and to be comfortable around and in the water. Dee has taught them the necessary skills they will need to be great swimmers.
Dee’s passion for the water extends further. She is a certified water aerobics instructor, with the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA). She keeps up to date with the latest water aerobic developments by attending the various AEA workshops and classes throughout the region. Deep water aerobics is her favorite. Besides being a manager at the Kent Pool, Dee is also a certified Red Cross instructor and teaches life guarding classes, first aid, and CPR classes. “I am happy to be back working at the Kent Pool. Seeing the faces of familiar patrons and working with the friendly staff, makes me feel right at home.”
